April 2009 Genocide Prevention Month

This April, survivors from Darfur and other previous genocides will join anti-genocide advocates and people of conscience around the world to observe Genocide Prevention Month. Survivors and advocates designated April as a month of commemoration because, remarkably and coincidentally, the genocides of the 20th and 21st centuries all have major anniversaries in April. April 6, 2009 will mark the 15th anniversary of the genocide in Rwanda.Numerous events will be taking place around the country where participants will commemorate past genocides and learn more about genocide prevention. For additional information and ways you can become involved visit: genocidepreventionmonth.org
